” I’ll be fine Dad, ” I said. The beamed lights drift by slowly disappearing into the darkness. A metallic echo of wild, loud noises travels from across the meadow in the distance. The sound of bottles striking together. A windy breeze with the whiff of damp mud, the kind you smell when you’re on the side line of a rugby match.

It’s been years since I’ve seen Chloe, I shouldn’t have come. Where do I go? I can’t see her, I’m cold.

” Bizz ” my leg slightly starts to rapidly shake. It isn’t that cold, is it? I dig down into my pocket, my phone lights up reflecting a blueish light. “Chloe Chambers is typing….”.

“Ohh” I sigh in relief, ” took long enough ” I mumble under my breath.

The musk of sweet alcohol starts to linger behind me, I breathe in. My eyes leave the screen. I breathe out. I tilt my head around slowly, as I hear the sound of squelching and squishing, get closer and louder. The dull thud of foot steps come to a stop, directly behind me.Those footsteps sound too heavy to be Chloe. The familiar musky scent of cheap Cologne waffles past through the breeze. Who is it?I know it’s not her, I’m scared. He leans on me as if he were struggling to carry himself, his dead weight is too heavy, I’m going to collapse. He sneakily slides his hands around my waist, pulls me closer. Before I could react, the stench of alcohol sits on his breath, as he rests his head on my shoulder.

He breathes heavily into my ear, whispers ” Oh baby, are you ready?

The low rumble of his voice sends a shiver down to my spine. Todd? I’m startled, lost for words. His soft lips brush past my neck paralyzing my body. It can’t be him. He wants nothing to do with me. He doesn’t even talk to me. His hands run down further, pressing his lean body up against me. I try to resist but the pleasure of his presence seduces me. I’ve been craving for his touch. SNAP OUT OF IT! This can’t happen, he doesn’t exist, he left me for her but he wants me. I can’t.

The sudden shrill of ringing jolts my body forward, heart racing at the speed of lightning. ” Smack ” the phone drops out of my hand, my body slides through his fingers as he gradually lets go of me. I reach down towards the glowing flashing light. ” Chloe Chambers is calling”. I should answer it but what about him? I push myself up off the ground, he places his hands on my hips, forcefully twisting me around towards him. Phone to the side of me, still ringing but I don’t answer. He pushes his hand against my face trying to lift it towards him, I can’t see anything it’s too dark, I can only hear the mutter mumbled voices of people walking past.
I gather my words together and softly ask ” Who are you? Is it you Todd?”. He doesn’t reply. The dark shade of his body stays still as he stares deeply into my eyes. “Tell me”, why won’t he tell me, is even Todd?

“BLAAAAAKE” as loud shout comes from the distance. Shit! That’s Chloe, she’s closeHe turns towards the sound of her voice… Ah, what do I do? Where in the middle of nowhere, Fuck. I don’t see her, but I can hear her shuffling through the thick grass. She’s in the paddock. She’s not far. He needs to leave. I feel the sweat breaking out beneath my palms, the adrenaline rushes through my veins.
I whisper harshly “You need to leave now! “, He’s gone, where is he? I turned around searching for any trace or scent of him but he was not be found, he had disappeared into the dusk of dawn. I didn’t hear him leave.
“Blake!, I’ve been looking for you. I called you like six times. Why didn’t you answer?” Chloe mentions in distress. Hes gone, I didn’t even see his face. Who was he? He left before I even could say anything. He knew Chloe he left as soon as he heard her voice. Was it Todd? He touched me like he knew me as if he had touched my body before.
Chloe pulls me and says “Say something”, “Oh, doesn’t matter now, we don’t have time. We either do it now or never ” She clenches my hand and drags me in the direction of the roaring crowd.

  1. You’re going to have to use the remaining periods well, Soph…I am a bit concerned by the amount you have and the time that remains.

Look to polish the voice of your character and get it all connected for a purposeful ‘whole’.
